Coach Robert LopezHead Coach Robert Lopez enters his 15th season at the helm of the La Reina program. Under his guidance, the cross country program has asserted itself as one of the premier programs on both the local and state level. The team has qualified for the C.I.F. playoffs each of his 14 seasons, while also reaching the state championships 9 times. In each of the team’s championship finals appearances, the team finished no worse than 10th in the southern section and 13th in the state! In 2008, the Regents reached new heights, winning both the C.I.F. Southern Section and California State Championships!

During his tenure, the team has recorded an impressive 156-50-0 (.757) record in league and non league meets. During which time, Coach Lopez has produced 26 first team All-Tri Valley League athletes, 3 individual Tri Valley League Champions, 4 Tri Valley League MVP’s, 6 first team All-Ventura County athletes, 8 first team All-C.I.F. Southern Section athletes, and 8 first team All-State athletes.

In 2000, Coach Lopez earned his first individual coaching honor, being named Tri Valley League Cross Country Coach of the Year. He would repeat that honor again in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011! The coaching accolades didn’t stop there, as he went on to earn Ventura County Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2008, and the Daily News All-Area Cross Country Coach of the year in 2008!

Coach Lopez looks to continue the success of his 14 previous seasons during the 2012-2013 season. With the addition of many new faces this season, Coach Lopez is very excited for the team’s prospects.
