About the Team The La Reina Cross Country Team is open to all students in grades 9-12. The cross country team has asserted itself as one of the premier programs on both the local and state level, qualifying for the C.I.F. Southern Section Division IV Finals six (6) out of the last seven (7) years, and the California State Championships four (4) out of the last seven (7) years. This year's team will look to continue on this success throughout the 2007-2008 season.

The team will be traveling by rental van to this week's California State Cross Country Championships. The team will leave promptly at 9:00AM on Friday, November 23rd, and should return by 6:30PM on Saturday, November 24th. All athletes will meet at the Eggs and Things Restaurant on Janss Road at 8:00AM for breakfast prior to leaving for Fresno. Regents Run Fast Despite Upset At TVL Meet #2
The Regents ran fast times at TVL Meet #2, despite an upset loss to rival Oaks Christian. The Varsity team finished 3rd overall with 73 Pts. Sarah Pearson led the team, placing 5th overall in 18:25.4. Tara Blanchard and McKenzie O’Malley finished 11th and 17th respectively in 19:44.5 and 20:05.4.
The J.V. team continued to improve, once again placing 2nd behind Oak Park with 65 Pts. Jamie Butters Led all Regents in the J.V. Race, running her fastest time of season in 21:08.5 and a 6th place finish. Katie Kavetsky followed closely behind, placing 12th in 21:29.4. VARSITY RESULTS JV RESULTS
Regents Come Alive At Clovis Invitational
The Regents came alive at the Clovis Cross Country Invitational, as the Varsity team placed 3rd with 118 points, behind race winner Woodcrest Christian (101 Pts.) and St. Mary’s of Berkley (109 Pts.). The team also set the all time team course record (1:41.50) for the Woodward Park course, taking down the old course record of 1:42:12 set by the state championship team of 2000.
Sarah Pearson led the Varsity team with a 4th place finish in 19:04. Tara Blanchard dipped into the 19’s for the first time in her career, racing to an 11th place finish in 19:36. McKenzie O’Malley (27th - 20:47), Mary Thompson (37th - 21:03), and Kim Cunningham (48th - 21:20) rounded out the scoring.
Jamie Butters was the top finisher for the J.V. squad, Placing 52nd in 22:39. Gabby Lowry and Ashley Millhouse also had solid performances, finishing in 23:18 and 23:31. Awesome Job Regents! VARSITY RESULTS JV RESULTS
Regents Have Strong Showing At Home At TVL Meet #1
 The Regents had a strong showing at home, as La Reina played host to TVL Meet #1. The Varsity team finished a solid second (52 Pts.), behind meet winner Oak Park (39 Pts.) Sarah Pearson was the fastest Regent on the day, Placing 3rd in 20:24. Sarah also tied the La Reina course record set by Katie Gose back in 2001. A slew of Regents followed close behind as Tara Blanchard (8th – 22:02), McKenzie O’Malley (11th – 22:51), Meghan Murphy (14th – 23:07), and Ivana Sanchez (16th – 23:10) completed the rest of the scoring for the team.
The Junior Varsity team also took second, with Katie Kavetsky leading the charge with a 15th place finish in 25:04. Like the Varsity team, a solid pack of Regent runners followed close behind: Jamie Butters (18th – 25:18), Gabby Lowry (22nd – 25:33), Ashley Millhouse (26th – 25:22), Olivia Zolfaghari (32nd – 26:26), and Alexa Shaw (33rd – 26:48) Great Job Regents! Regents Dominate At Pepperdine Invitational
 The Regents had a dominating performance at the 1st Annual Pepperdine Cross Country Invitational, taking home two plaques for their efforts. The Varsity team of Sarah Pearson, Tara Blanchard, McKenzie O’Malley, Kim Cunningham, Ivana Sanchez, Mary Thompson, and Meghan Murphy asserted themselves as one of the top C.I.F. Southern Section teams by winning the small school race with 64 pts. La Reina had all 7 of its members finish in the top 1/3 of the race, with its top 5 scorers in the top 33! (Due to a timing malfunction, no times were recorded for this race.)
The Frosh-Soph team was equally as impressive, placing 2nd in the small school race. Jamie Butters, & Katie Kavetsky led the team, finishing 10th and 13th overall in 22:30:41 and 22:53.76. Rounding out the rest of the scoring were Gabby Lowry (23rd – 23:57:24), Maija Ehlinger (29th – 25:06:75), and Anna Harris (33rd – 25:51:41).
Ashley Millhouse led the Junior Varsity team to a 6th place performance, placing 33rd individually in 26:01:83. Close behind were Alexa Shaw (34th – 26:05:54), and Olivia Zolfaghari (37th – 26:23:52). Congratulations everyone on an outstanding meet! VARSITY RESULTS FROSH-SOPH RESULTS JV RESULTS
Regents Lead The Pack With Top Performances At Mt. Carmel Invitational
 The Regents were leaders of the pack with many top performances at the Mt. Carmel Cross Country Invitational, held at Balboa Park in San Diego. In the Senior Race, Kim Cunningham led the way with a very impressive performance, finishing in 16th place in 18:33. Ivana Sanchez followed close behind finishing in 25th place in 18:58.
The Juniors were equally impressive in their race, as McKenzie O’Malley ran 18:33, good enough for 27th place finish. Meghan Murphy (60th) and Alexa Shaw (102nd) put together notable races of their own finishing in 20:04 and 22:06.
The best performance on the day came in the Sophomore division, as Sarah Pearson pulled away from Ashley Workman of Queen Creek with about ¾ of a mile remaining in the race, to win in 16:27. Mary Thompson supported Sarah’s performance with a 19:27 and a 47th place finish.
The Freshmen, still looking to get a feeling for racing and cross country, all ran to respectable performances with Gabby Lowry (75th), Anna Harris (108th), and Ali Perez (126th) running 21:19, 22:56, and 24:19 over the 2.75 mile course.
