Established in 1985, the La Reina Equestrian Team offers team opportunities in an otherwise individual sport. Open to La Reina students in grades 7 - 12, the team competes year round in the Interscholastic Equestrian League. The IEL League offers four divisions (Novice, Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity) for Hunter/Jumpers and Dressage. The La Reina Equestrian Team offers the unique ability for riders to get school credit for their extensive hours of lessons and showing.
All shows are held at the Hansen Dam Equestrian Center. Students wishing to join the team need:
Creating a dynasty of sorts, the LRHS Equestrian team has dominated the IEL, winning the Overall League Championship for thirteen years, eleven consecutively (1995-2005) and the most recent championships in 2011 and 2012. In addition to their champion abilities, La Reina riders are known for their high standards, polite attitudes and ethical competitive natures in the La Reina spirit. Nothing but the highest ideals are accepted.
Of course, our team also knows how to have fun. We have parties throughout the season, an annual Christmas party, and a Year End party. Additionally, at each of the shows, we congregate in the "Team Cabana" (courtesy the LRHS Booster Club). In our Cabana, you'll find team families, friends, trainers, and lots of delicious food for nourishment throughout the day.
