PHILOSOPHY OF THE FINE ARTS DEPARTMENTThe dance, drama, music, and visual art programs of La Reina High School's Fine Arts Department provide balance in the school's curriculum that is important for the development of the integrated personality. The department provides opportunities for each student to "discover, develop and share the unique gifts God has given her". The arts program seeks to "nurture (the students') sensitivity and creativity" by designing a curriculum that increases self-discipline and motivation, contributes to the student's positive self-image, provides an acceptable outlet for personal expression and helps to develop creative and intuitive thinking processes. Traditional and classical education recognizes that the world's creative future depends upon the participation of aesthetically responsive individuals who have a life-long interest and involvement in the arts. - Respect for originality in one's own creative expression and sensitivity and responsiveness to the expression of others;

- Based on an understanding of the nature, structure, and meaning of the arts. An intellectual foundation for making and justifying aesthetic judgments.

The Practical Arts of La Reina High School provides the students with opportunities to address their spiritual, physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs. Recognizing the demands of a technological age, the program provides practical skills that are valuable for the students' immediate and lifelong development. The knowledge and skills taught in the practical arts & fine arts department enables the student to become more actively involved in future spiritual, artistic, recreational, social, and professional activities.
