The Religious Studies Department of La Reina High School seeks to foster the young woman's growth to Catholic/Christian maturity, assisting her in developing a spiritual life which will mature as she does. Challenged by the students' diversity of religious backgrounds, the department strives to cultivate a climate in which personal faith can grow from the knowledge presented from the Catholic/Christian perspective. Recognizing the qualities distinctive to feminine spirituality, the department emphasizes the particular role of women and predominant figures in the Church and throughout the world. The program of instruction is designed to heighten the student's awareness of the primacy of her relationship with God, which becomes the catalyst for her response in Christian service. The courses offered by the department follow the curriculum framework as designed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and educate the student to integrate Catholic/Christian tradition and religious values with human knowledge and daily living.
As an outgrowth of the philosophy of La Reina High School, the Religious Studies Department seeks to develop young women who:
