Meet the Counselors
Director of Guidance and Counseling, Mrs. Melinda Hobmann
Mrs. Hobmann joined La Reina High School as Director of Guidance and Counseling in 2012 and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked as a GATE middle and high school English teacher and English Department Chair in a local school district for over 10 years, then counseling students for 5 years as a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern in local schools. She has also coached two Girls Freshman basketball teams, taught a Reading Intervention Program and is the Advisor for the Random Acts of Kindness Club at La Reina High School. Mrs. Hobmann received her B.A. in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and both her Single Subject Teaching Credential and her M.S. in Counseling-Psychology, with a focus on Marriage and Family Therapy, from California Lutheran University.
Guidance and College Counselor, Mrs. Nicole Twohig
Mrs. Twohig joined La Reina High School as a Guidance and College Counselor in 2014. She has worked for over 5 years in education, most recently as a counselor at a public high school in Seattle, WA and as an independent college counselor. Her work in college counseling involved advising students and families in every aspect of the college search and application process. She focused on helping students find the best fit colleges, creating applications that showcased their strengths and making the process enjoyable. Mrs. Twohig received her B.S. in Social Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and her M.A. in Counseling and pupil personnel services (PPS) credential from St. Mary's College.
