Guidance and Counseling Department
Building upon La Reina High School’s ideal of “…where quality and the individual count,” our focus in the Guidance and Counseling Department is to emphasize meeting the unique needs of every student. Our goal is to support the academic development, college/career development, personal/social development and spiritual development of each student, in order that she may reach her highest potential.
La Reina High School’s Guidance Counselors take a personal approach with each individual girl. We understand that the middle school and high school years can be difficult to navigate. The Guidance and Counseling Curriculum adheres to the National Standards for School Counseling Programs (American School Counselor Association), but goes beyond to ensure that the personal, academic, intellectual, physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs of each girl are addressed via a comprehensive program and curriculum.
Every student has an appointed counselor, assigned by grade level and alphabetical order, who will help her to address academic goals, to select and apply to her optimal colleges, and to address personal issues and resolve conflicts. Guidance services are delivered via a combination of personalized, one on one meetings between each girl and her counselor as well as via small group, large group, grade level and whole school offerings.
