Visual Arts

The practice and study of the arts is a complex one.  Therefore, all of the department’s classes, from introductory to advanced, seek to help students understand how creativity, imagination, physical skill sets, intellectual aptitude, and curiosity are necessary for success.

Consequently, all students will leave the department with highly refined physical skills, mental discipline and focus, not to mention, specific areas of expertise that will serve them well in whatever personal or professional direction they choose to pursue at the college or university level.

Art Dept. News

Two La Reina seniors, Paloma Martinez and Colleen O'Toole are achieving amazing things with their photographic talent.

Congratulations to Paloma Martinez on the selection of one of her images into the 34th Annual College & High School Photography Contest, sponsored by Photographer's Forum.  Her image was one of over 16,600 photographs entered from the United States, Canada and around the world.  Her image will be published in the upcoming hardcover edition of Best of College & High School Photography.

Congratulations to Colleen O'Toole on her acceptance into The School of Architecture, Design and Planning at the University of Kansas.  Colleen will major in Photo Media in the Department of Design in the Fall.
