Theater

The heart of theater is its incredible community. This community bridges cultures, fosters creativity and self-expression, and encourages exploration. It is a social laboratory—a place for students to experiment, learn, and grow. From public speaking and performance to stage management and technical execution, students not only study the art of theater, they experience it.

Each semester student actors, stage managers, and theater technicians study both the art and science of the theater, and bring classic and original performances to life on stage. Students may choose theater—on stage or behind the scenes—as their extracurricular activity. We mount three main-stage theatrical productions each academic year, ranging from one-act plays to full-scale musicals. Recent main-stage shows have included Peter Pan, Little Women, The Little Mermaid, and others!

The sisterhood that I found here through regent performers and comedy sportz was one of the best experiences I had at La Reina. I am extremely thankful to these groups of girls for helping shape who I am. Erin Carney `17

Theater Opportunities

Main Stage Productions - La Reina students have opportunities to participate in the High School musical, the High School play, and the Middle School musical every year. Students collaborate as both performers and technicians to put these productions together.

Comedy Sportz - This club teaches girls the basics of improv theater and comedy. With four competitions per year, students have many opportunities to experiment and hone their skills.

Theater Classes - Offered to Middle School students, these classes help students learn public speaking, acting, and develop confidence in their voices.
