Tennis player Tiara Nourishad '18

Tiara Nourishad '19 defended her Tri-Valley League title in fine fashion, not losing a single game in the entire league tournament and ultimately winning the championship match 6-0, 6-0.

Tiara had gone undefeated in the league play as well (24-0), a year after winning the league title as a junior with only one set lost (28-1).

"I all my years of tennis," Head Coach Frances Workman said, "I have never witnessed anybody winning a tournament without losing a single game the entire time. That is simply an amazing feat in itself."

The tournament was not without drama, however, as she had injured her calf the week prior and was nearly forced to sit out a match during her undefeated season.

"In order to get off the court quickly [in the tournament]," Workman said, "we discussed being efficient and not getting sloppy in games. Tiara took that to heart and kept tremendous energy and focus on every point. All her hard work and outside tournament experience allowed her to really mature and grow this year."

She qualified for the CIF Tennis Individual Singles tournament to be played in November, brackets to be announced. This will be her third appearance in the CIF tournament.

She was named the Ventura County Star's Athlete of the Week on October 29 after winning the TVL title.
